Office: Sturges 311 Specialty Women’s literature, American literature, Film, and the Traditional Gothic Education M.A., Ph.D., Indiana University Biography Professor Carpenter’s specialties are 19th- and 20th-century American women’s literature and American film. She has collaborated on two books about women’s ghost stories. Under the pen names D. B. Borton and Della Borton, she has published eleven mystery novels, the most recent of which is Eight Miles High. She teaches freshman writing, film, American literature, women’s literature, and the Gothic.
