2007-2008
Professor Patricia DeMarco will be presenting a paper in July at the New Chaucer Society entitled "Chaucer, Chivalric Nostalgia and the Despenser Crusade."   The conference takes place in Swansea, Wales, and while in Wales, Dr. DeMarco will be taking a tour of area castles dating from the 12th century,  undertake research at the National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth, and examine the most famous surviving medieval manuscript of Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, the Hengwrt manuscript. Professor Marty Hipsky, who is on sabbatical in Spring 2008, will be travelling to both the University of Tulsa archives and the Ransom Center in Austin, Texas, in order to do research on the archived personal papers of such British modernist writers as James Joyce and Rebecca West.
